Flexible Sidewall Inflatable Seals
Flexible sidewall inflatable seals use a cross-section with shaped sidewalls around the hollow chamber. Compare the deflated and inflated dimensions alongside the available space around the seal, rather than selecting by outside width alone.

Plan space for the profile to change shape
The sidewall shape is an important part of this family. When reviewing a drawing, look at the complete section and the space available beside it. Nearby channel edges or equipment surfaces must be considered when assessing how the seal will expand and return.
Compare the listed inflated height with the closed position of the mating surface. This dimension is useful for comparing catalogue profiles, but it does not by itself define a safe operating gap or the pressure to use. Those depend on the profile, retainer and application conditions together.
For a loop or shaped seal, include the overall dimensions and the intended inflation direction. Minimum bend radius can differ between radial-in, radial-out and axial arrangements. Use the individual PDF drawing and discuss the intended shape with our team.
